As the monsoon winds continue to affect the country, there is a possibility of heavy rainfall today at one or two locations in the hilly and mountainous areas of Bagmati, Gandaki, and Karnali provinces.
According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, the monsoon trough is currently situated near its average position. While the weather is mainly clear in the Tarai region of Koshi Province, the rest of the country is experiencing partly to mostly cloudy conditions. Moderate rainfall is occurring at some places in Koshi, Bagmati, and Karnali provinces, and at one or two locations in Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim provinces.
According to the Department, this afternoon the hilly and mountainous regions of the country will see partly to mostly cloudy skies, while the Tarai will be partly cloudy. There is a possibility of moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning at some places in the hilly and mountainous areas.
There is also a forecast for moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning at some places in the Tarai of Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, and at one or two locations in the Tarai of Koshi, Madhes, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim provinces.
Similarly, there is a possibility of heavy rainfall at one or two locations in the hilly and mountainous areas of Bagmati, Gandaki, and Karnali provinces.
Tonight, the country will also experience partly to mostly cloudy conditions. There is a possibility of moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning at some places in the hilly and mountainous areas of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, as well as in the hilly and mountainous areas of Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces. In addition, some places in the Tarai may also experience moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning.
According to the Department, there is a possibility of heavy rainfall tonight at one or two locations in the hilly and mountainous areas of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces.
The Department has urged caution, as heavy rainfall in these areas could increase the risk of landslides, floods, and soil erosion.
