The Problematic Cooperative Management Committee has returned approximately 1.2 million rupees in savings to 48 depositors of cooperatives declared problematic.
According to the committee, arrangements have been made to provide up to a maximum of 50 percent at one time, but not exceeding 50,000 rupees, to senior citizens who have reached the age of 70, depositors suffering from life-threatening diseases certified by an approved physician, single women, persons with complete disabilities, and depositors with savings of more than 500,000 rupees.
The committee has returned savings at the rate of 25,000 rupees per person to 37 depositors of Kantipur Saving and Credit Cooperative Limited, 4 of Gautamshree Multipurpose Cooperative Institution Limited, 3 of Krishi Bikas Multipurpose Cooperative Institution Limited, 2 of Ideal Yamuna Multipurpose Cooperative Institution Limited, and 2 of Pashupati Saving and Credit Cooperative Limited, totaling 48 depositors.
According to the committee, the process of returning savings based on applications and claims received from depositors, in accordance with the set priorities, will continue regularly in the coming days as well.
The committee stated that the savings have been returned based on the claims and priorities of depositors in accordance with the Cooperative Act, 2017, the directive order of the Supreme Court, and the government's 100-day action plan.
