The flow of water in small rivers and streams in some districts of the country is expected to increase significantly today, and there is a moderate risk of flash floods. According to the Flood Forecasting Division under the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, the flow of small rivers and streams in Taplejung, Solukhumbu, Sankhuwasabha, Dolakha, Sindhupalchowk, Kavrepalanchowk, Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur and Assap is likely to increase significantly. The division also estimates that the flow of rivers and streams in Makawanpur, Chitwan, Palpa, Kaski, Tanahun, Syangja, Parbat, Baglung, Myagdi, Mustang, Rukum West, Doti, Bajhang, Kailali and Kanchanpur will also increase.

According to the division, as the continuous rains will increase the flow in the hilly and mountainous areas, special precautions should be taken in riverbanks, coastal areas and places at risk of inundation and landslides.
As monsoon activity increases, there is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall in the hilly and mountainous areas of the country, a few places in the Koshi, Bagmati, Lumbini and the Terai areas of Sudurpaschim provinces, and one or two places in the Terai areas of Madhes, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, according to the department.
The department's meteorologist David Dhakal informed that there is a possibility of very heavy rainfall in one or two places in the hilly and Terai areas of Koshi, Gandaki, Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces.
