Prime Minister Balendra Shah has said that the government is committed to providing all possible support for the development of women entrepreneurs.
In a discussion held with the officials of the Federation of Women Entrepreneurs Nepal at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers today, he said that the government is active in solving the problems of women entrepreneurs and an environment will be created to promote the products they produce in tourist destinations. In the discussion, the representatives of the Federation urged to ensure a business-friendly environment, conduct special programs to bring goods and services to the national and international markets, and make it mandatory to participate in trade fairs, exhibitions, 'business-to-business matching' and export promotion programs.
Prime Minister Shah responded positively to the request to establish the 'I am an Entrepreneur' trademark developed by the Federation and suggested that the trademark be brought to the market soon.
During the discussion, the government's institutional cooperation was also demanded in the annual International Women Entrepreneurs Trade Fair of the Federation. In addition, it was requested to make necessary provisions in the Public Procurement Act and Regulations to give priority to women entrepreneurs in the public procurement process and to implement a provision requiring government offices and educational institutions to purchase goods and services from women entrepreneurs.
'The Prime Minister not only listened to us, he showed readiness to take immediate initiatives to solve the problem and provide all necessary cooperation,' said Federation President Darshana Shrestha, 'We believe that the action-oriented dialogue with the Prime Minister will help in promoting women entrepreneurship. '
Discussions were held on the promotion of women entrepreneurship, expansion of investment and financial access, enterprise-friendly policy reforms, skill and capacity development, innovation, digital entrepreneurship and sustainable development of women-led enterprises.
The discussion was attended by Federation First Vice President Sunita Baidya, General Secretary Savita Subedi, Secretary Dikila Lama III, Vice President Mahalakshmi Shrestha, and others.
