The government has formed a negotiation team to hold talks with those affected by meter interest. The cabinet meeting held on Thursday decided to form a negotiation team under the coordination of Pushkar Sapkota, Secretary to the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, to address the demands of citizens affected by unfair transactions (meter interest) and to move forward with the talks.

A similar negotiation team has been formed with the joint secretaries of the ministries of finance, home, land management, and federal affairs and general administration as members. The cabinet made this decision after Home Minister Sudhan Gurung reached Nijgadh and held talks with the victims who were planning to come to Kathmandu.

Other decisions of the cabinet

1. To address the demands of citizens affected by unfair transactions (meter badges) and to advance the negotiations, a decision has been made to form a negotiation team under the coordination of Pushkar Sapkota, Secretary to the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers. The negotiation team will include joint secretaries of the Ministries of Finance, Home, Land Management, and Federal Affairs and General Administration.

2. To provide approval to Nepal Rastra Bank to mint new design coins of 1 and 2 rupees.

3. To approve a grant of 1.81 million US dollars from the Korean government to establish the 'Nepal Law Information Pilot System'.

4. If additional trees and poles need to be removed in national forest areas within protected areas, the concerned ministry may give approval after completing the prevailing legal process.

5. To approve the organizational structure and posts of various ministries.

6. To approve the Policy Research Foundation Development Committee (Formation) First Amendment Ordinance, 2083.

7. To approve the necessary arrangements regarding the management of employees working under service contracts.
