Two people have been arrested in connection with the incident in which a person was brutally beaten to death on charges of attempting theft in Gwarko, Lalitpur last Wednesday.
The arrested are 26-year-old Ganesh Magar, originally from Likhu Tamakoshi Rural Municipality-6, Ramechhap, currently residing in Gwarko, Lalitpur, and 26-year-old Manoj Dahal of Chapagaun, Godawari Municipality-10.
According to SP Gautam Mishra of Lalitpur Police, they severely beat Ashok Karki, also known as Ashok Subedi, of Mahalaxmi Municipality-4, Lalitpur, after accusing him of attempting theft at a garage in Gwarko, rendering him unconscious.
He was left unconscious at the scene, and later rescued and taken to KIST Hospital. However, he died during treatment.
SP Mishra stated that the two, who had been absconding after the incident, were arrested by a team deployed from the Satdobato Police Circle and Imadol Police Post.
According to him, the District Court, Kathmandu has granted permission to keep both individuals in custody for five days for investigation on the charge of homicide.
