After the previous Acting Chief Election Commissioner Ram Prasad Bhandari retired on Asar 23 due to reaching the age limit of 65, the responsibility was transferred to Commissioner Tuladhar, who was next in seniority.
Of the five-member commission, currently only Tuladhar and Commissioner Sagun Shamsher Jabara remain. The term of then Chief Election Commissioner Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya ended on 2082 Baisakh 5, and the term of then Election Commissioner Ishwari Prasad Paudel ended on 2079 Fagun 4.
The Parliamentary Hearing Committee has initiated the hearing process, including a call for complaints, against the three individuals recommended for Chief Election Commissioner and Election Commissioner. The Constitutional Council has recommended Man Bahadur Karki (Morang) as Chief Election Commissioner, and Dr. Rajiv Subba (Kathmandu) and Guru Prasad Wagle (Okhaldhunga) as Election Commissioners.
