Nepal Red Cross Society (NERCSO) has requested that if the office bearers and members of any level committee are holding positions in various bodies of political parties (including fraternal organizations), they should withdraw from their involvement in the Nepal Red Cross.
To ensure that the volunteers and employees involved in NERCSO act and behave in accordance with the principles, values and norms of the Red Cross, Sub-section 3 of Section 72 of the Statute 2020 (including the eighteenth amendment 2082) of the Nepal Red Cross Society has provided that ‘persons who are actively involved in politics and are holding positions in various bodies of political organizations (including fraternal organizations) and are involved in the governance structures of all levels from political parties and are holding office bearers and members shall not be members and office bearers of any level committees, commissions and sub-committees of the Nepal Red Cross Society.
In the request issued by the society, if they are found to be in a dual role without assimilating this provision of the statute, the existing statute will apply 6.
