Two Nepali youths who were detained by Chinese security personnel on charges of flying a drone across the border in the Nepal-China border area of ​​Lapchi will be released on Thursday.

According to Padmaraj Timalsina, head of the Tatopani Immigration Office, the Chinese side has informed that the two youths will be released on Thursday after completing the necessary legal procedures. According to him, the families of the youths have also been in touch and the Nepali side has requested their release through formal correspondence.

'The Chinese side seems to suspect that someone incited them to take part in activities in Chinese territory through drones. We have already made the necessary coordination and correspondence. We have received information that they will be released on Thursday,' Timalsina said.

They are currently being kept safe  in Nyalam County, China. 'The condition of both the youths is normal and safe,' said Chief Timalsina.  After the increased activity in the border area, the Chinese side has also tightened surveillance.
