The Supreme Court has issued a show cause order on the habeas corpus petition of former minister Bishnu Poudel. Justice Shrikant Poudel issued the show cause order while hearing the habeas corpus writ.
Poudel was arrested from Surkhet on June 21. The Money Laundering Investigation Department is investigating Poudel for abusing his position to facilitate the purchase of shares by businessman Deepak Bhatt. The special court has extended his remand by seven days.
Poudel's wife Domaya filed a writ of habeas corpus in the Supreme Court on Wednesday.
The petition has named the Special Court, the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Money Laundering Department and the District Police Office, Surkhet as defendants.
