This year's monsoon system, which entered Nepal six days later than the average time, has expanded to the eastern and central regions of the country. According to the Meteorological Forecasting Division under the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, the monsoon that entered Nepal from Koshi Province on Friday has expanded to four more provinces today. According to the division, the monsoon has currently spread to the entire territory of Koshi Province, Madhesh Province, Bagmati Province, some areas of Gandaki Province and the eastern region of Lumbini Province. However, as the monsoon system is still weak, it will take a few days to expand to the rest of the country, says the department's meteorologist Sanjeev Adhikari. Although the monsoon usually enters Nepal on June 13, this year it has entered six days late, according to the division. As the effect of the monsoon has expanded, rainfall has started in various places in eastern and central Nepal. The division stated that the monsoon system is being continuously monitored. The public has been urged to regularly check weather updates and weather bulletins for the next three days and take necessary precautions.
The department has projected that Nepal will receive less than average rainfall and temperatures will rise during the monsoon period. According to the department's meteorologist Sudarshan Humagain, there is a possibility of less than average rainfall in most parts of the country this monsoon.
According to the department, this year, the southern parts of Karnali Province, most areas of Lumbini Province, eastern parts of Madhesh Province and southern parts of Koshi Province will receive less than average rainfall.
