The National Examination Board has stated that the publication of results has been delayed due to the loss of the answer sheets of 1,000 students who applied for re-examination.

The answer sheets of about 1,000 students who participated in the SEE have been found missing. Of those who applied for re-sit, the answer sheets of about 1,000 students have not been found.
This has affected the publication of the re-sit results, said Examination Controller Tukraj Adhikari. 33,887 students had applied for re-sit. Of these, the results of 31,855 have been published. The results of about 1,000 students could not be made public due to the unavailability of the answer sheets, according to the National Examination Board.
The results of 2,335 students are yet to be published. However, the official said that the number is more than 1,000 because some students' results were missing (results postponed due to various reasons) and some students applied for re-sit more than once. 'It does not mean that everyone's answer sheets have not been found,' he said.
The publication of the re-sit results has been delayed as the answer sheets of the students were not found in the answer sheets sent by the concerned district and examination center. There is a provision to grant grade enhancement to students who are not satisfied with the results of the re-evaluation before the grade enhancement (supplementary) exam. Supplementary exams have been conducted across the country since Monday. But students who applied for re-evaluation
have been forced to take the grade enhancement exam when the results are not received.
Some students from Sarlahi district have reached the Examination Controller's Office, Sanothimi, Bhaktapur, looking for the results of the re-evaluation. Ravi Shakya, a student who came to Bhaktapur after the results were not received on time, said. "We are looking for the copy. They said that the results will come when they are found. We suffered due to negligence," he said. Students from Morang, however, have participated in the grade enhancement exam because the results of the re-evaluation have not been received.
The government had announced that this time the results would be published within a month of the end of the exam. For that reason, arrangements were made to check the answer sheets at the exam center itself and send them to the office. Board employees said that there was a problem in finding them because the answer sheets, which were checked in a haphazard and negligent manner by the exam center, were sent in a bundle. ‘While searching for the answer sheets, answer sheets from Jhapa, Ilam, Morang, Sunsari, Sarlahi and other districts were found in the school,’ said the examination controller, ‘We have requested them. The results of the re-evaluation will be published after they arrive.’ The office also stated that the work of searching for the missing answer sheets is ongoing.
After the test, the district-based Education Development and Coordination Unit was required to send all the answer sheets to the center along with the scores before the results were published. A board employee said that not all the answer sheets could have been received due to the rush to publish the results. The board estimates that some answer sheets may not have been found because students changed exam centers and subjects. ‘Every day, 3/4 employees are deployed to search for the answer sheets. Even after they search all day, not a single answer sheet has been found,’ he said. ‘It is becoming difficult to find the answer sheets since they are not kept in the same envelope in which they should be kept.’ The board stated that it is yet to determine how many answer sheets have been left unfound at the exam center.
Due to the unavailability of answer sheets, the results of only 339 re-examinations were published on Monday. Of these, 18 have had their results changed. Earlier, the results of 31,516 had been published six times. Of these, 1,810 have had their results changed. This year, more than 5.5 percent of the results have changed.
The number of students applying for re-examination has also increased this time compared to last year. Problems were found during the examination of the answer sheets, such as teachers giving fewer marks due to omission of addition of marks, and errors in entering marks. Students and parents have been in trouble due to the errors made by teachers and board employees during the examination and publication of results. There is a provision to apply for re-examination by paying a fee of Rs 500. Some have not been able to get the re-examination results as their answer sheets were not found.
The board has made arrangements for students to get re-examination, view the answer sheets and re-examine if they are not satisfied with the results. If the student is not satisfied with the re-examination, he/she can view the answer sheet and get re-tested. In the results of the public SEE on 29 Baisakh, 61.81 percent of the students passed. Out of 430,667 candidates who participated in the regular examination, 284,000 passed while 146,507 failed. There is a provision for failed students to participate in the grade enhancement examination.
