Speaker Dol Prasad Aryal has said that the Federal Parliament is fully committed to the eradication of caste discrimination and untouchability. Addressing a program organized by the National Dalit Commission in Lalitpur on Thursday on the occasion of the National Day for the Eradication of Caste Discrimination and Untouchability, Speaker Aryal said that the Parliament is aware of the problems, pain and challenges that the Dalit community has been facing for a long time. He said that Nepali society cannot be truly just and equitable unless the respect, security, equal opportunities and justice of the Dalit community are ensured. 'Ending caste discrimination and untouchability is not only the responsibility of the government, the commission or any single body. It is the common responsibility of the state, political parties, civil society, the media sector, educational institutions and the entire Nepali society. Therefore, the campaign against this evil can be made successful only if every level and class of society comes together. Unity is our strength,' said Speaker Aryal.
Speaker Aryal is also committed to playing a more active role in protecting and promoting the rights of the Dalit community, while maintaining harmony between national laws and international commitments.
