Minister for Women, Children, Gender and Sexual Minorities and Social Security Sita Badi has expressed her commitment to make necessary amendments and revisions to the existing laws and regulations to end caste discrimination and untouchability.

Addressing a program organized by the National Dalit Commission in Lalitpur on Thursday on the occasion of the National Day for the Elimination of Caste Discrimination and Untouchability, Minister Badi said that there are still remnants of discrimination and violence in society.

She expressed concern over the fact that direct discrimination has changed and violence against the Dalit community is currently being carried out through indirect and digital means.

'Such discrimination and violence has not been able to end in society. While the form of direct discrimination has changed, indirect discrimination and violence against Dalits is still taking place. Physical discrimination has now reached the digital space,' she said.

Minister Badi said that she will move forward with the cooperation of everyone to make necessary legal amendments to end untouchability, discrimination, violence and humiliation, bring about transformation in policy systems and formulate necessary new laws. He also said that it is the responsibility of all conscious citizens to end such social crimes.
