The Supreme Court has issued a show cause order on a writ petition filed by Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) MP Deepak Bohora after the National Human Rights Commission mentioned his name in a report on the Gen-G movement.
A single bench of Chief Justice Manoj Kumar Sharma has sought the reason for including him in the report for investigation.
Before leaving for New Delhi with party president Ravi Lamichhane, Bohora had filed a writ petition.
The commission's report recommends an investigation into the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) MPs for inciting the crowd in various ways in the Bhadra 23/24 incident. It has been asked to investigate them and take action if found guilty. Bohora was also included in that.
In the writ petition, Bohora claimed that during the Gen-G movement, he was with his wife in the hospital during the birth of his second child, but his name was mentioned in a biased and misleading manner.
The writ petition claimed that an organization that is responsible for protecting human rights could create a situation where any citizen would be afraid to speak out on public issues in the future.
With the order to show cause for Bohora's writ, the way has been opened for other RSP MPs named in the report to also file writs.
