Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal has urged Nepalis living abroad to avail consular services through the 'Mofa Mitra' mobile app. At the 'Mofa Mitra' mobile app launch program organized by the Consular Services Department on Tuesday, he expressed confidence that the app would be effective in making public services more convenient and citizen-friendly.

'Consular service work has increased as those going abroad to work are not aware of the rules and laws of the country they are going to,' he said, 'This service will also be helpful in providing any information to relatives of those living abroad.'

This service has also reached all 77 district administration offices and all diplomatic missions abroad. It was also informed in the program that legal services have now reached 500 local levels. Apart from Nepalis living in India informally, 5 million Nepalis have legally gone abroad for various services. Complaints can also be filed by downloading the mobile app on any issues they face.

Director General of the department Durapada Sapkota said that the app will be used to protect the rights and interests of Nepalis living abroad and to get help in times of difficulty. He also said that the app and mobile system are linked. It is believed that the app will be easy for matters such as corpse management, compensation, insurance claims. This app will be effective as the number of Nepalis going abroad is increasing.
