A total of 70 citizens have lost their lives in 1,342 disaster-related incidents across the country since Baisakh 2083 BS until Saturday. According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, the incidents occurred in the last 40 days of the year 2083 BS and 333 citizens have been injured. 

According to the Authority's spokesperson Shanti Mahat, the highest number of deaths were due to landslides (16), lightning (14) and fire (11). Similarly, nine people died due to wind, eight due to animal attacks, five due to snake bites, two due to landslides, two due to boat capsizing and one each due to forest fires, floods and avalanches. 

According to the details released by the Authority on Saturday, 1,621 families were affected by these disaster-related incidents. In terms of the number of disaster-related incidents, the highest number was 488 fire incidents. Similarly,  There were 230 wind, 139 due to lightning and 105 due to snake bites. 

He also said that three people have died in disaster-related incidents in the last 24 hours alone. The NEA has also stated that 13 people have been injured in 32 incidents and more than 1.7 million rupees have been damaged. 

Floods, landslides and heat waves are continuing in some places as the monsoon enters the country. Today, severe floods have hit various districts of eastern Nepal, affecting many areas.
