Four girls have drowned in Mahottari. According to the District Police Office, three girls drowned in the river of Sarpallo village of Manrasiswa Municipality-7 and one girl drowned in Rajkhor village of Gaushala Municipality-4 on Friday.
Sneha Kumari, 12, and Shivani Kumari, 6, daughters of Birendra Bhandari of Sarpallo village of Manrasiswa-7, and Afsana Khatun, 12, daughter of Aziz Nadaf, died by drowning. All three girls from Sarpallo village had gone to bathe in the confluence of Ankushi and Jangha rivers this afternoon. They slipped while bathing and drowned in the river.
According to the police, Deepika Kumari, 2, daughter of Naresh Mahato of Rajkhor village of Gaushala-4, drowned in stagnant water in a field near her house, said Police Inspector Ramesh Lama.
The bodies of all four deceased girls have been sent to the Provincial Hospital Jaleshwor for an autopsy. The District Police Office, Mahottari, has stated that necessary investigation is underway into the incident.
