The government has decided to provide relief and rehabilitation assistance to families affected by the removal of risky settlements on the banks of the rivers in the Kathmandu Valley.
The Cabinet meeting held at the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers' Office, Singha Durbar on Tuesday decided to provide a lump sum of rehabilitation expenses and monthly relief for temporary settlement management to the displaced families, informed Government Spokesperson and Minister for Education and Sports Sasmit Pokharel. According to which, each family removed from risky settlements will be provided a lump sum of Rs 25,000 for rehabilitation. It has also been decided to provide housing management expenses for up to three months at the rate of Rs 15,000 per month for families with up to five members and Rs 2,000 per additional member.

1. Accepting a grant of 6.116 million Swiss francs from the Swiss government for the municipal revenue enhancement project .
2. Accepting a grant of 79.36 million RMB provided by the Chinese government for the repair and improvement of the Araniko Highway .
3. a) Verify the details of the people who will be displaced when the risky settlements on the river banks of the Kathmandu Valley are removed and provide Rs. 25000/- as a lump sum for each family towards rehabilitation expenses .
(b) To encourage those who have been removed from risky settlements to arrange alternative accommodation on their own, a relief amount of Rs. 15000/- per family of five members will be provided, and for more than that, an additional Rs. 2000/- per month per member will be provided, for the current three months, for housing management expenses .
(c) To keep the elderly, disabled, helpless and those who cannot manage themselves in designated holding centers .
(d) To ensure the education and schooling of children and students and ensure health service facilities in coordination and collaboration with the local level .
4. To approve the Repatriation Regulations, 2083 .
5. To approve the Military Service (Sixth Amendment) Regulations, 2083 .
6. To approve the submission of the bill to amend the Nepal Rastra Bank, 2058 BS to the Federal Parliament.
7. To adjust the posts of the special category secretaries gazetted in accordance with the Government of Nepal (Division of Work) Regulations, 2083 BS.
