Some highways in the country that were blocked due to floods and landslides caused by rains for the past few days have been operational since Thursday, while some main highways are still blocked.

Due to the incessant rains on April 21, the BP Highway in Kavrepalanchok's Namobuddha Municipality-6 Chowkidanda and Roshi Rural Municipality-7 Ghumaune, the BP Highway in 400 Besi, and the Kharkharkhola in Kumakh Rural Municipality-2 of Salyan and the Salli Chaurjahari road section in Koiralakhola have been operational since today, informed Nepal Police Central Police Spokesperson and Deputy Inspector General of Police Abinarayan Kafle.

According to him, the Mid-Hill Highway in Bokhim, Bhojpur Municipality, which was blocked due to floods on April 22, and the Koshi Highway in Makalu Rural Municipality-3 Naya Basti, which was blocked due to landslides on April 23, have been operational in one-way.

Due to the incessant rains on April 21, the inner unpaved road going to Jhapa via Nkhep in Salakpur, Rong Rural Municipality-6, Ilam, was completely blocked and has not yet been put into operation, said Prabhakar Kafle. He said, 'Some of the main highways that were blocked due to the floods and landslides that came with the rain have been put into operation, while some highways are being operated in one direction. All vehicle movement operating through the Kavrepalanchok Khurkot-Nepalthok-Katunjebensi BP highway has been banned.'

Since the risk of floods and landslides is higher during the rainy season, the police have urged all concerned to travel safely and cautiously while traveling on the blocked and one-way highways.
