The Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation has directed the concerned individuals, institutions and bodies to immediately vacate the land taken under occupancy rights and the structures constructed on it. According to the ministry, as per Sub-section (2) of Section 21 of the Policy on Registration, Utilization and Lease of Government Land, 2079 BS (with Second Amendment), the parties who had previously obtained occupancy rights were given a period of six months to convert the said land into a lease. For this, the then Department of Land Reforms and Management had published a notice on 2073/02/31 and 2074/01/21.

However, the ministry has stated that the occupancy rights of the individuals, institutions and bodies who have not applied for conversion into a lease within the specified time limit have automatically expired.

The ministry has informed all concerned to vacate such land and the structures constructed on it as soon as possible by depositing the amount due as per the agreement in the government treasury.
