The government has appointed senior physician and medical educationist Prof. Dr. Jagdish Prasad Agrawal as an unpaid health advisor to Prime Minister Balendra Shah.

The cabinet meeting held on Tuesday decided to appoint Dr. Agrawal to the post. Dr. Agrawal, who is also the former dean of the Institute of Medicine (IOM) of Tribhuvan University, will provide necessary advice to the Prime Minister on the country's health policy, public health challenges and the improvement of medical education.

Giving information about the appointment, the Prime Minister's Press and Research Expert Deepa Dahal said, 'We are confident that the appointment of Prof. Dr. Agrawal, an experienced and expert in the health sector, will provide the Prime Minister with important technical support and suggestions for improving the country's health policy and services. Having led a prestigious organization like IOM, he will provide his expertise and time to the state on an unpaid basis.'
