The Supreme Court has ordered the submission of five details related to the method and process adopted by the government in demolishing the squatter settlements.

A single bench of Justice Sunil Kumar Pokharel made this order on Monday in a writ petition filed by Majid Ansari and others.

The order was made in a writ petition filed by the government claiming that the squatter settlements were not even provided with an opportunity to move. In the show cause order issued on April 21, the Supreme Court has also asked the Attorney General's Office to submit details of the latest situation. The Supreme Court has also asked to be present in the discussion on whether to issue an interim order on the 23rd.

A writ petition related to the squatter settlements has also been scheduled for presentation in the Supreme Court on Tuesday. The writ petition filed by Gopal Ranpaheli and others living in the squatter settlements has been scheduled for presentation in the bench of Justice Hari Prasad and Meghraj Pokharel.

The Supreme Court's order has asked the parties to present these facts, figures and documents related to the eviction of the settlement through the Attorney General's Office when they appear in the interim order discussion.

The five points demanded by the Supreme Court are as follows:
a) How have the mandatory methods and procedures to be adopted been adopted as mentioned in point no. 91 of the 100-point document on governance reforms decided and implemented by the Government of Nepal's Council of Ministers and as per the Constitution of Nepal, Section 5 of the Right to Housing Act, 2075 BS and the directive issued by this court in the petition 067-WO-1002 including the Council of Ministers? Documents with the decision related to that.

b) What decision or legal basis has been taken to evict the squatters and unorganized settlers and demolish their houses and huts as claimed in the petition? Documents with that decision.

c) What is the current status of the minimum human rights including resettlement/daily food/medical treatment/cleanliness of senior citizens, sick and disabled persons and alternative arrangements for education of children, including families who have been removed/moved from the evacuated settlements? Objective details of the arrangements made in this regard.

d) What is the latest status of data collection and verification of citizens removed from the settlements? Latest details of this.

e) Details of schools, monasteries, monasteries, mosques, etc. demolished from the evacuated settlements and details of the immediate work done for their management.
