The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has stated that a system causing heavy rain with gusty winds is moving eastward. The system has started raining in most places in Bagmati Province and Madhesh Province, including the valley.

According to the department, moderate to heavy rain with gusty winds and lightning is currently falling in various districts of Karnali and Lumbini Provinces. Meteorologist Sanjeev Adhikari of the department said that the rain-producing system is moving eastward.

The department has stated that due to the currently active weather system across the country, there will be rain with gusty winds, thunder and lightning. According to the meteorologist, the rain system that started in the far west has spread to Lumbini and Bagmati and Madhesh Provinces. The speed of the wind will reach about 40 kilometers per hour and its effect will last for about two hours in some places.

There is a possibility of especially heavy rain today and the rain is expected to decrease somewhat after the evening. However, the department has stated that the rain-producing system will remain active throughout the week.

Currently, there is a combined effect of the westerly wind, local wind, and a low-pressure area in the lower atmosphere near the eastern region in Nepal. In addition, the department has mentioned that the low-pressure line extending from east to west through the southern region of Nepal is affecting the weather.

According to the department, there is complete cloudiness in the Far Western Province, while there is general cloudiness in the Koshi and Karnali provinces as well as the western region and the mountainous region of Lumbini Province. Partial cloudiness is seen in some places in the hilly and Terai regions of the country. Moderate rain is occurring with thunder and lightning in some places in the Far Western Province.
