Death toll in Rolpa's Jaljala jeep accident reaches 20 [Update]

The death toll in a jeep accident in Jaljala, Rolpa has reached 20. According to Nepal Police, at least 20 people were killed when a jeep traveling from Rukum East fell off a cliff in Jaljala, Thabang Rural Municipality-1. 

The jeep accident occurred on a hill on the border of Thabang Rural Municipality-1 and 4. According to Rolpa Police, the pilgrims were coming from Rukum to perform puja on Friday in Jaljala. Full details of the incident are yet to come. 

According to Sunil Thapa Nepali, Information Officer of the District Police Office, Rolpa, rescue operations are ongoing. He informed Kantipur that police teams have been deployed from Uwa and Thabang police stations for rescue. 

The police suspect that the accident may have occurred because the road was slippery due to the rain.
