The government has recommended an ordinance to the President with a provision to revoke all political appointments.

A recommendation has been made to President Ram Chandra Poudel to issue an ordinance to make special provisions regarding the removal of public officials. If this ordinance is issued, all the officials who have been politically appointed in public bodies will be removed from their posts.

'These ordinances have been recommended to make them compatible with the ordinance to make special provisions regarding the removal of public officials who have been politically appointed and nominated in the past,' says a press note issued by Prime Minister Balendra Shah's press and research expert Deepa Dahal.

Similarly, an ordinance to amend the Public Procurement Act, 2063 BS, with the aim of making public procurement relevant to the times, has also been recommended. The government on Monday recommended various ordinances to the President through the Council of Ministers with the aim of making appointments in public bodies transparent and competitive, ending party politicization, accelerating public construction, returning money to small savers of cooperatives, and making services including land, land revenue, and surveying more effective.
