The risk of heat wave (HW) is likely to persist for a few more days with rising temperatures in various parts of the country. The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has urged people to be on high alert, saying that there is a possibility of HW in some districts of the Terai till Thursday.

According to the department's meteorologist Binu Maharjan, the eastern region is likely to remain hotter for a few more days until Saturday and in the western region. He advised people not to go out during the day except for essential purposes, to stay in cool and airy places, to wear light and thin clothes and to drink plenty of water and fluids.

A 'stay alert' level warning has been issued in the Terai districts of Lumbini and Sudurpaschim—Kanchanpur, Kailali, Dadeldhura, Doti, Bardiya, Banke, Dang, Kapilvastu and Rupandehi. Similarly, a 'stay updated' level warning has been issued in districts including Achham, Surkhet, Dailekh, Salyan, Rolpa, Pyuthan, Arghakhanchi, Palpa, Parasi, Nawalpur, Chitwan, Makawanpur, Parsa, Bara, Rautahat, Sarlahi, Mahottari, Dhanusha, Siraha, Saptari, Sindhuli and Udayapur.
