Home Minister Sudhan Gurung has conducted an on-site inspection of the Nagdhunga-Mugling road project, which is under upgrade. During the inspection, he warned of strict action against construction contractors who delay the construction work and do substandard work. He said, "Delay in work will not be tolerated under any pretext." If the work is not done as per the agreement and the quality is compromised, such companies will be immediately blacklisted and action will be taken forward.
Home Minister Gurung had taken detailed information about the status of the Naubise-Malekhu and Malekhu-Mugling sections of the project. On the occasion, he directed the construction contractors to complete the work on time and with high quality. The report submitted by the project to the Home Minister pointed out the shortage of construction materials as the main problem. It is mentioned that the work has been delayed due to legal and administrative complications, especially in the extraction of riverine and mineral materials.
There is a local level obstacle in the extraction of riverine materials (stone, gravel, sand). In the past, the closure of crusher industries has had a serious impact on the supply of construction materials, the double taxation system and lack of uniformity in revenue rates charged by various local levels, the administrative hassles in transporting materials from one municipality to another, the delay in the environmental impact assessment and approval required for mining, and the project has demanded that the new government provide construction materials in the required quantity from various places such as Belkhu Bagar, Ghatbensi Bagar and Malekhu-Lam Bagar and facilitate their transportation.
Home Minister Gurung assured that the government would provide necessary facilitation through inter-ministerial coordination to resolve these problems. He also expressed his commitment to move forward by overcoming political interference and administrative hassles in development and construction work.
