The government has accelerated the printing of driver's licenses. According to Devraj Dhungana, Executive Director of the Security Printing Center, around 40,000 licenses are currently being printed daily.
He said that the printing of licenses has been given high priority and the target is to print the remaining 2.9 million licenses by mid-Ashar 2083 BS. Of this, the target has been set to complete the printing of 1.2 million licenses by the coming 12th of Baisakh. He said that the printing process of the remaining 1.7 million licenses has also been accelerated.
Minister for Communications and Information Technology Dr. Bikram Timilsina has directed the Security Printing Center to prevent any disruption in the printing of licenses and to print all the remaining licenses as soon as possible. The ministry has also prioritized this issue in the detailed action plan that includes 10 major reform programs with the aim of making the result-oriented governance management system effective.
As per the decision of the Council of Ministers on 13 Chaitra, this action plan has been taken forward with the aim of making public service delivery citizen-friendly, fast, transparent and technology-friendly.
Meanwhile, for the convenience of service recipients, the Department of Transport Management has started publishing the details of licenses printed and distributed daily on its website. This will help service recipients easily get information about the status of their licenses.
Similarly, arrangements have been made to send the printed licenses to various transport offices across the country as soon as possible through the postal service. This has also made the distribution process systematic. If the work continues at this pace, it is expected that the long-awaited problem of license distribution will be completely resolved in the near future.
