The government has directed that all types of advertisements and information be published/broadcast only through government media, saying that it will bring economy in government expenditure and maintain uniformity in information publication.

The Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers made a secretary-level decision on Wednesday and issued such a circular to all bodies at the federal, provincial and local levels. According to a letter issued by the office's branch officer Binod Regmi, from now on, advertisements from public bodies will not be available through private media.

It has been arranged that the payment for the advertisement should be deposited only in the official bank account of the concerned media organization. Similarly, the letter mentions that the payment rate and discount for the advertisement should also be approved by the concerned government media.

Earlier, government advertisements were distributed on various radio, television, newspapers and online portals.
