The government is planning to repatriate 400 Nepalis stranded due to the ongoing war in West Asia via Nepal Airlines.

Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal informed Kantipur Television that Nepal Airlines is going to bring Nepalis who are unable to return home due to the war at a concessional rate. According to him, 400 Nepalis will return home from Dubai, UAE on Friday and from Dammam, Saudi Arabia on Sunday via Nepal Airlines.  Flights to West Asian countries are currently not operating due to the ongoing war between the US, Israel and Iran. Similarly, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has stated that some Nepalis are being facilitated to return to Nepal as the fares have tripled, making it difficult for them to return. Although the fares for flights to the UAE and Saudi Arabia are normally 45,000, they have now reached more than 100,000. Along with the 400 Nepalis, the bodies of more than 12 Nepalis who died in those countries due to various reasons will also be brought. Saudi Arabia's Labor Attaché Kabiraj Upreti has informed the Nepali Embassy that more than 900 Nepalis are unsafe.

They have registered their names to facilitate their return to Nepal. He said that the first phase will send the Nepalis who have come into contact with them. Meanwhile, the government has also formed two high-level task forces to study the impact of West Asian tensions on supply and employment and ways to solve them in the long term.

Both task forces have been formed under the coordination of Foreign Minister Khanal. The first task force has been given a time limit of seven days, while the second task force has been given a time limit of one month to submit its report. The members of Minister Khanal's task force include secretaries of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Finance, Industry, Labor and Tourism.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, there are currently 1.8 million Nepalis in West Asian countries. The largest number of them is in the UAE, with about 500,000. Similarly, according to foreign statistics, there are 350,000 Nepalis in Qatar and 400,000 in Saudi Arabia.
