The answer sheets of the Secondary Education Examination (SEE) will be tested at examination centers across the country.

Education Secretary Chunamani Poudel said that the National Examination Board has decided to arrange for the test of the answer sheets of the subjects of the examination to be done at the examination center itself within 3 days.

‘This time, it has been decided to test the answer sheets at the examination center itself.  If it is not possible to test at the center, the answer sheets can be brought to the Education Development and Coordination Unit in the district on the day of the examination,’ he said.

The board has stated that the concerned unit has been given the right to decide whether to test the answer sheets at the examination center or at the unit.  ‘The answer sheets should be tested within the specified time and the scores should be sent to the board,’ said Education Secretary Poudel, who is also the vice-chairman of the board. ‘We are issuing a circular to complete the test within 3 days of the examination.’

After the answer sheet test is completed, the unit has decided to send the student's marks to the board. The board has stated that the results will be published after entering and verifying the student's marks. He said that it has been decided to make the results public within a month. According to the schedule, the SEE results will be published by the end of Baisakh.

1,966 examination centers have been designated across the country. In previous years, the answer sheet unit collected the answer sheets from the center and conducted the tests between districts and provinces. The question of which examination center's answer sheets would be tested where was kept secret. In doing so, it took an average of more than two and a half months to publish the results. But this time, after Education Minister Sasmit Pokharel directed to publish the results within a month, the board has decided to arrange for the answer sheet test at the examination center itself.

512,421 students are appearing for the SEE examination starting from Thursday. Of which 257,613 girls, 254,811 boys and 7 other students will participate in the exam, said Examination Controller Tukaraj Adhikari.

23 students from Everest School in Japan are participating in the exam. The officer said that 73,500 human resources including center heads, assistant center heads, inspectors, assistants and security personnel will be mobilized for the exam.

The office has stated that the exam materials including question papers have reached the exam centers in all districts. The exam is scheduled to start from Chaitra 19 and end on 29. The National Examination Board had made the schedule public on Magh 7.

The exam will be conducted from 8 am to 11 am. According to the schedule, the compulsory English subject exam will be conducted on the first day. On the second day, compulsory Nepali will be conducted on Chaitra 20, compulsory Mathematics on Chaitra 22, Science and Technology on Chaitra 23, Social Studies on Chaitra 24, all subjects of the first optional section on Chaitra 25, all subjects of the second optional section on Chaitra 26, and the remaining subjects of the technical stream on Chaitra 27, 28 and 29. The office has stated that the examination for both regular and grade-increment groups will be held according to the same schedule. The use of electronic devices that use Bluetooth chips such as mobile phones and smart watches has been prohibited in the examination hall. There is an arrangement for the center head to facilitate the examination of disabled, pregnant and nursing examinees.
