Chief Justice Prakash Man Singh Raut's term ends on Tuesday.

Raut is going on compulsory retirement from midnight on Tuesday due to the age limit of 65. Chief Justice Raut came to the helm of the Supreme Court on Asoj 20, 2081. He had been on leave for a month before retiring.

This dispute was resolved during Raut's tenure, when he took charge amid a clash between the bar and the bench. During his tenure, progress was seen in the appointment of judges and the disposal of old cases. The Supreme Court had also announced that the hearing of cases older than eight years had come to zero.

During Raut's tenure, the dispute over the appointment of 52 officials of the Constitutional Commission, which was of the utmost concern, was also resolved. Overall, despite efforts to reform the judiciary during Raut's tenure, structural problems could not be resolved. Issues such as reform of the Judicial Council and transparent appointments continued to be overlooked.

Raut's readiness to reduce the number of cases that cannot be seen and should not be seen in the daily case list did not seem to be very effective. Although the Supreme Court will be leaderless from Tuesday, the homework for the appointment of the future Chief Justice has not started. Although the Judicial Council has recommended the names of 6 people, the structure of the Constitutional Council has not been completed.
