Kuwait Airways is set to operate a special charter flight to Gautam Buddha International Airport in Bhairahawa on Wednesday to repatriate Nepali passengers stranded in Kuwait.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal granted permission for the flight on Monday. According to the authority, Kuwait Airways will use a Boeing 777-300 aircraft for this flight. The 334-passenger aircraft is set to land in Bhairahawa for the first time.
This charter flight is being operated in coordination with the Nepali Embassy in Kuwait as per the demand of the Nepalis there. The aircraft is scheduled to land in Bhairahawa at 4:45 pm on Wednesday. The aircraft will return empty without passengers on its return.

According to an employee of Kuwait Airways in Kathmandu, regular flights have not been fully operational since the attack on Kuwait International Airport. Alternatively, preparations are being made to operate flights to Kathmandu from Dammam, Saudi Arabia. A letter has also been sent to the authority seeking permission for this.
After the attack on Iran, both Kuwait Airways and Jazeera Airways, which fly to Nepal from Kuwait, have suspended regular flights. Kuwait Airways has been allowed to operate five flights a week and Jazeera has been allowed to operate two flights.
Kuwait Airways, which started flights to Nepal from October 31, 2022, currently has 34 aircraft. It has been providing services to 56 international destinations, including Nepal.
Qatar Airways, Fly Dubai, Jazeera and Thai Air Asia have previously operated international flights to Bhairahawa. Similarly, Nepal's Himalaya Airlines and Nepal Airlines have also operated international flights from there.
