UML leader and former MP Karna Bahadur Malla has been arrested on charges of rape. Malla was arrested from Satdobato by a Lalitpur police team on Saturday.

A woman had filed a complaint against Malla. She is on a hunger strike to death at her home, demanding action against Malla. Lalitpur Police Chief SSP Hobindra Bogati said that Malla was arrested on the basis of a complaint filed by a woman.

Malla was elected as a member of the UML in the 2007 Constituent Assembly.

According to Bogati, a complaint was filed against Malla on 5 Falgun and the police obtained an arrest warrant from the court the next day. After that, he absconded and reached Mugu and Kalikot, according to the police. 'The police deployed after receiving information from Kathmandu have taken him under control,' Bogati said. 52-year-old Malla is from Mugu Soru Rural Municipality-10, Dhainkot.
