The police have launched an investigation into murder-related crimes against KP Sharma Oli, who was the Prime Minister during the Gen-G movement, and Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak.
The Gauri Bahadur Karki-led inquiry commission had recommended a criminal investigation into their negligent and negligent activities and behavior, saying that human damage had been caused by their negligence.
The cabinet meeting held on Friday had decided to implement that recommendation, and Home Minister Sudhan Gurung had started talking to Nepal Police Chief Dan Bahadur Karki and Armed Police Chief Raju Aryal to implement it from the evening. They had suggested that legal procedures should be completed before arresting them. After that, the ministry itself filed a complaint against Oli and Lekhak.
According to the complaint, the police had prepared a necessary document stating that they should be arrested immediately to investigate the murder-related crimes. After that, Oli and Lekhak were arrested.
They have been kept in the custody of the District Police Complex, Kathmandu. According to security officials, this is the first case of a former prime minister being arrested in an investigation into a murder-related crime.
The report had recommended that Oli and the writer, as well as the then police chief Chandrakuber Khapung, be investigated for criminal offenses. The Council of Ministers had decided to study the case of the security personnel.
The report of the inquiry commission states that even after some people died in the shooting on 23 Bhadra, no official, including the then Prime Minister Oli, took any steps to stop the shooting and instead acted negligently and carelessly. ‘That is why there was a lot of human loss,’ the report says.
It is said that the then official did not stop the shooting even after the four hours of shooting before the curfew was imposed. The report states, "Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, who has the overall responsibility for peace and security, and Prime Minister KP Oli, who is the country's chief executive, did not appear to have taken any initiative to prevent further human casualties on the afternoon of 23 Bhadra."
The report states that the teenagers died due to their careless actions without trying to stop the shooting.
