After receiving a letter from the Home Ministry to arrest former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and former Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, the police have started an investigation into a murder case on charges of suppressing the Gen-G movement.

The Karki Commission had recommended criminal action against Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak and IGP Chandrakuber Khapung.
They were recommended to be prosecuted under Sections 181 and 182. Section 181 of the Criminal Code states that ‘no one shall cause the death of another by negligent act’. A person who commits such an offense can be imprisoned for 3 to 10 years and fined from Rs 30,000 to Rs 100,000.
Section 182 states that ‘no one shall cause the death of another by negligent act’. It says that imprisonment for up to 3 years and a fine of up to Rs 30,000 can be imposed.
