Minister for Forests and Environment Geeta Chaudhary has said that reducing human-wildlife conflict will be a top priority of her tenure. 

Taking charge of the ministry at Singha Durbar on Friday, Minister Chaudhary said that controlling the increasing human-wildlife conflict is the need of the hour. She expressed her commitment to move forward with a concrete strategy after discussing with stakeholders to reduce the conflict. 

'There is a need to empower both forest products and communities,' said Minister Chaudhary. Stating that she came from the Shuklaphanta National Park area, Minister Chaudhary said that priority would be given to solving the problems faced by the residents of the buffer zone. 

On this occasion, Secretary of the Ministry of Forests and Environment, Dr. Govinda Prasad Sharma welcomed the newly appointed Minister Chaudhary and informed about the achievements, challenges and future directions of Nepal's forest and environment sector.
