Dinesh Nayak of Brahmadev, Bhimdatta Municipality-9, Kanchanpur, had gone to Russia for studies in Asad 2080. He joined the Russian army within two months of reaching Russia. He was in contact with his family for some time after his enlistment. On Mangsir 10, 2080, Dinesh informed that he was going to war and would only contact him after he returned.

The Nayak family had been hoping to contact their son for almost two years. After the news of their son's death came in the first week of Chaitra, the family has been in silence. The villagers are also in mourning along with the family. 'We were hoping that there would be contact from somewhere, that their son would return home, now that too is over,' said Dinesh's father Karnasingh Nayak, 'After a very long wait, the news of the death came, now we could have just found the body.' The Nayak family was called to Kathmandu on Falgun 5 to collect DNA samples. A sample was also collected from the mother Kamaladevi. After that, they returned home.

The Nepali Embassy in Russia sent a letter to the Consular Services Department on Falgun 29 informing them that Kamaladevi's DNA sample had been found. Only then did the Nayak family receive news of their son's death. The Nayak family has not received any information about when their son died. 'A letter has come saying that they have to go to Russia for funeral and insurance work,' said the deceased's father Karnasingh. 'I demand that my son's body be brought to Nepal, I will perform the last rites here.'

He has requested that arrangements be made to bring the body to Nepal as he does not have the money to go to Russia. Currently, Karnasingh is pleading with all agencies to take the initiative to get his son's body. He is also preparing the necessary documents.

23-year-old Dinesh had gone to Russia in Asad 2080 for studies. Within two months of arriving in Russia, he succumbed to various temptations and joined the Russian army. After being recruited, he used to contact his home regularly during the training period. Then, once, when he went to war, he was able to contact him for 15 days. After returning from the war, he contacted him again. The family had urged his son, who had gone to study, not to join the Russian army. But Dinesh did not heed the family's request. 'They said they would not join the army, but now this news has come,' said mother Kamaladevi, 'I had been hoping for my son to return home for two years, and now that too has happened.'

Kamaladevi is now crying, remembering what her son said on the phone two years ago. On Mangsir 10, 2080, she had spoken to her mother on the phone. She had informed him that she would call him only after 10-15 days as he was going to war. But since then, she has not spoken to her son.

‘My mother used to say that she came to earn money, that she would return home after earning,’ Kamaladevi said, ‘What did she earn money for, she lost her own life, she caused us trouble.’ She is not even able to speak properly due to her son’s worries. Dinesh is Kamaladevi’s youngest son. The elder Ashok works in India. After hearing the news of his brother’s death, he has also returned home.
