The National Bookstore (Teachers) has digitized the personal records of 40,000 permanent teachers. Deputy Director General Dinesh Ghimire informed that the bookstore digitized the personal records of 20,000 teachers in the last fiscal year and another 20,000 in the current fiscal year. He said that the goal is to digitize the personal records of 7,000 more teachers by the end of this fiscal year. The bookstore has been providing pension, gratuity, medical expenses, payment of accumulated leave, family pension, educational and child support, and other facilities to permanent teachers working in community schools in posts approved by the Government of Nepal. As provided in the Education Act, 2028 and the Education Regulations, 2059, retired teachers prepare pension certificates from the bookstore. There is a provision for compulsory retirement of working teachers after reaching the age of 60. The organization has been publishing the list of estimated compulsory retirement of teachers twice a year (Magh and Baisakh).

The School Teachers' Bookstore, which was established as a department-level office under the then Ministry of Education, is currently operating under the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration after the change in the form of government of the country. According to Deputy Director General Ghimire, 2,083 teachers are retiring within this fiscal year.

In addition, the bookstore has been carrying out the work of registering and certifying teachers' seat rolls, updating job descriptions, publishing the names of teachers who will be required to retire due to age limit, approving annual salary details, operating the pension fund, calculating service period, registering property details, and completing tasks from filling up to retirement of teachers.

According to the Educational Information Collection of the Ministry of Education, 2081, there are 156,640 teachers working in community schools, including 83,989 permanent teachers, 29,699 temporary teachers, and 39,962 relief teachers at the basic and secondary levels.
