Have you made a new citizenship? If so, now you will not have to go through the hassle of making a national identity card because citizens who have taken new citizenship will have to fill a separate form and stand in line to make a national identity card.
Earlier, it was necessary to fill a separate form and pay a fee and stand in line for hours. Now, a national identity card will be made in an easy and fast way. It is now possible to get a national identity card based on the citizenship number without filling a pre-enrollment form.
As part of the Government of Nepal's digital governance and administrative simplification campaign, it will now be possible to apply for a national identity card from 77 districts without filling a pre-enrollment form and obtain a national identity card. The service was launched today by Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal.
To eliminate the situation that has not been possible for years and the need to spend time filling out separate forms for citizenship and national identity cards in service delivery, simple and easy access has been established. On the occasion, Home Minister Aryal said that NID integration will be useful and relevant for citizen service delivery and good governance.
According to the new arrangement, Nepali citizens who receive citizenship certificates from the District Administration Office will no longer have to fill out a separate online pre-registration form for national identity cards. Minister Aryal says that this has made service delivery simple, fast and citizen-friendly.
This service has been made possible through the interconnection between the Central Citizenship Management Information System (CCMIS) and the National Identity Card Management Information System (INIDMIS) through API. On the day of obtaining the citizenship certificate, after entering the citizen's 11-digit citizenship number at the concerned District Administration Office and National Identity Card Registration Center, the details of the concerned citizen are automatically received from CCMIS to NIDUMIS and the national identity card registration process is completed by collecting biometric details such as fingerprints, iris, photo and signature.
Around 8 to 9 thousand citizenship certificates are issued across the country daily. Through this system, citizens will now get the facility of registering for the national identity card on the day of obtaining citizenship. It is expected that this will reduce the time for receiving services, reduce the need to visit the office again and make service delivery more effective.
On this occasion, the first citizen to receive the national identity card service on the day of obtaining the citizenship certificate from the District Administration Office, Lalitpur has also been handed over the national identity card. Home Minister Aryal handed over the identity card. Before the implementation of this system, citizens who obtained citizenship can register for the national identity card through the existing online pre-registration system.
