The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has stated that there is currently heavy rain with gusty winds and hail in various districts of all seven provinces. According to the department, Nepal is currently experiencing heavy rain with gusty winds due to the influence of a western low-pressure system and local winds.
According to the department's meteorologist, Hari Prasad Dahal, there is heavy rain with gusty winds in various parts of the country, and the highest rainfall has been measured in the Gadhi area of Makawanpur. He informed that 44.22 millimeters of rainfall was recorded in Makawanpur Gadhi.
Similarly, 7.8 millimeters of rainfall was measured in the Babarmahal area of Kathmandu and 16.8 millimeters of rainfall was measured in Kirtipur, said meteorologist Dahal. He informed that the current rainfall system is gradually moving from the west to the northeast. He urged the public to be alert as there is a possibility of heavy rain with gusty winds continuing for the next three hours.
According to the department, the heavy rain with gusty winds has affected transport, communication and electricity services. The department has urged the public to avoid non-essential travel and to adopt high alertness.
The department has stated that there is a possibility of gale force winds in the Terai and hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Lumbini provinces including Madhesh Province tonight and tomorrow. There is a risk of falling trees, weak structures and roofs blowing off, electricity and communication services as well as air and road transport being affected, so the department requests to adopt necessary measures and precautions to avoid its impact.
