The Election Commission has stated that Rs 284 was spent per voter in the House of Representatives elections held on 21 Falgun.

After submitting the election results along with the overall report of the election to President Ram Chandra Poudel, Joint Secretary and Spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai informed the press conference organized by the Commission today that the Commission has adopted a policy of using materials purchased earlier to make election expenses economical.

He also said that the procurement of election materials was done by making agreements with government-owned organizations. Out of 50 types of election materials, 37 types of election materials were purchased from the provincial and district election offices. 13 types of materials were purchased from the Commission and transported district-wise. Out of the Rs 7.81 billion 576 million demanded by the Commission for election purposes, a source agreement of Rs 6.76 billion 66 million 90 thousand was received from the Ministry of Finance. Of the amount received, Rs 3.54 billion 28 million 796 million has been spent so far. The commission has informed that some of the expenses incurred are yet to be paid.

Who supervised the election?

While arrangements were made for domestic and foreign observers to observe the election, 164 representatives of 22 diplomatic missions and 3 representatives of international NGOs observed the election. 35 NGOs observed the election.

The commission has expressed its gratitude to all voters for participating in this exercise of representative democracy declared under special circumstances and completing the process of electing representatives through their voting rights, participating in the law-making and state-running processes, and participating in the formation of the government and governance.
