20 Nepalis who reached Cambodia on visit visas and were used for illegal work have been 'deported'. The Nepali people involved in gambling, casinos, and online fraud as part of the gang's plan have been taken into custody by the police there and deported.

The Nepalis who were made undocumented after being used for illegal work have been returned in coordination with the Nepali Embassy in Thailand and the Non-Resident Nepali Association in Cambodia.

Hundreds of Nepali citizens have become homeless as organized gangs take them on visit visas and use them in criminal activities there, and in the process, even take control of their documents. According to the latest data, 1,977 Nepalis reached Cambodia on visit visas in 2022, 2,940 in 2023, 6,404 in 2024, and 9,676 in 2025.

Those who go in this way fall prey to the gangs and are arrested and even sent to jail after the government launches an operation. The Nepali Embassy in Thailand has reported that 20 of the people arrested and detained by Cambodian police have been rescued and returned to Nepal.

In the second week of January, Cambodian national police raided a casino in Bavet city in an operation against online fraud and arrested more than 2,000 foreigners, including 30 Nepalis. On January 14, the police there raided 22 buildings of the Ban Chheng Casino and took them into custody. 30 Nepalis who had gone on tourist visas were also among those arrested.

Earlier, 21 Nepalis were rescued from Cambodia on February 29 and returned to Nepal in coordination with the Thai Embassy.
