The Division Forest Office has conducted various programs to control forest fires and minimize the damage caused by fires.

Information Officer Keshar Khadka of the Division Forest Office informed that a special forest fire control squad has been appointed to make forest fire control and risk management effective. Arrangements have been made to have a 12-member team in the squad formed under the leadership of the Division Forest Office. The team has been kept ready with necessary equipment and mini fire engines.

According to Information Officer Khadka, the 12-member team has been managed to be mobilized throughout the district by mid-Jeshtha. He informed that the team will be deployed in various forest areas for monitoring and immediate control, targeting the time when the risk of fire is high.

An interaction program was also organized among the concerned bodies along with the start of the week. Senior Forest Officers Sant Bahadur Thing, Ram Bahadur Ghalan, Head of the Land and Watershed Office Rakesh Kunwar, Officer Arun Acharya, and other local level representatives, security personnel, representatives of community forest user groups and other stakeholders participated in the program.

The causes of forest fires, their effects and preventive measures were discussed in the interaction. The participants emphasized that the active role of the local community along with government agencies is very important in controlling forest fires.

On this occasion, a new digital system has also been launched to systematize forest fire data collection and information management. Arrangements have been made for all 6 sub-division forest offices in the district to enter the information in the online system within 24 hours of a forest fire incident.

After the launch of the online seat called 'Forest Fire Reporting 2082/083', it is expected that fire data will be collected on time and necessary decisions will be made easier. As forest fire control is important for forest conservation, biodiversity and maintaining environmental balance, the concerned bodies have urged everyone to be vigilant.

Locals have been requested to immediately inform them if a fire is seen in the forest area and cooperate in controlling it.
