Prime Minister Sushila Karki has called on the Nepali diaspora to play an active role in Nepal's development, investment and cooperation.

Prime Minister Karki, referring to the Nepali diaspora as Nepal's 'goodwill ambassadors' at the NRNA World Conference, said that Nepal's identity is spreading in the world through their conduct, behavior and contributions. 'You are introducing Nepal's pride, culture and identity to the world from wherever you live,' she said.

Addressing the closing ceremony of the 12th General Convention of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) and the World Conference Unity, she said that the Constitution of Nepal has provided citizenship with economic, social and cultural rights to non-resident Nepalis, and this has further strengthened the relationship between the Nepali diaspora and the motherland. She said that this provision has provided an opportunity for Nepalis living abroad to invest their knowledge, skills, experience and capital in Nepal.

She expressed confidence that the government would prioritize the policy of attracting foreign investment in productive sectors, mobilizing the capital of non-resident Nepalis in a safe and transparent manner, and building a long-term investment structure.

According to Prime Minister Karki, investment by non-resident Nepalis is not only important in economic but also in building social capital. 'This investment is an investment linked to the Nepali mind and Nepaliness, which strengthens social unity along with economic prosperity between Nepalis living abroad and Nepal,' she said.

During her address, the Prime Minister said that it was positive that the division seen within the Non-Resident Nepali Association for some time now has ended and that everyone is standing on the same platform. She expressed happiness that she was able to convey a message of unity with the unanimous selection of leadership, and said that this unity should become the basis for emotional unity of Nepalis around the world.
