Anil Tamang from Nuwakot Kakni in the Sohar region of Oman had Friday off. He was sleeping in a camp. Suddenly, at 7 am on Friday, a drone fell inside the room where he was sleeping. He was sound asleep when he was woken up by the loud sound of the drone falling. ‘When I woke up, there was smoke in the room,’ he told Kantipur over the phone, ‘I ran out in a hurry. I realized that I had been shot only when I started bleeding while running.’

Anil’s body was hit by three shrapnel. ‘It’s not a big wound, but it hurts inside. Two shrapnel went into his thigh,’ he said, ‘One hit his chin.’ Seven people were staying with Anil, who works in a construction company. He does not know what happened to anyone else. He added, "I had to save my own life after getting injured myself, I don't know about the others."

According to Oman News Agency, the official news agency of Oman, two Indian workers have died in the incident. The number of injured has not been disclosed. One of the two drones sent by Iran fell in an empty space. The other fell in a camp.

Anil is being treated at Sohar Hospital. According to Devan Khadka, central member of the Non-Resident Nepali Association, Oman, the Oman government has made arrangements for his treatment. "There is no problem with treatment and food. The hospital has made all the arrangements," he said, "Anil's condition has improved a lot." The company is preparing to send Anil on a two-month leave. The company has stated that it will provide air tickets and all salaries.

Iran has attacked the Salalah and Sohar ports of Oman. Nepali workers are also employed in those ports. There are about 25,000 Nepali workers in Oman. The other 20 Nepalis in the camp where Anil is staying are safe.

One Nepali has died so far in the war between the US-Israel and Iran. Diwas Shrestha from Gorkha, who was working at the Abu Dhabi airport in the UAE, lost his life in an Iranian drone attack two weeks ago. In addition, at least 15 Nepalis have been injured in the Iranian attack in the UAE. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has not revealed the identities of the 15.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, 1.7 million Nepali workers are working in 12 countries in West Asia. As tensions over the US-Iran war have increased throughout West Asia, Nepalis living there are also worried. The Nepali government has made arrangements to fill out an online form to collect the details of its citizens living there.

According to the Department of Consular Services, 66,721 Nepali citizens have registered their details as of Thursday. Out of the details provided, 5,000 Nepalis have stated that they are unsafe. The department also stated that the registered details have been studied and the process has been taken forward as per the need.

The government has made arrangements for Nepalis who want to return home from Qatar, Kuwait and Bahrain to fly via Saudi Arabia. Nepalis with expired residence permits will be able to obtain Saudi visas through the Saudi Visa Center. On Thursday, 66 Nepalis who were in ‘transit’ in Kuwait were sent to their respective countries via Saudi Arabia.
