Nepal has banned issuing 'on arrival' visas to Iranian citizens. Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal on Friday decided to ban issuing 'on arrival' visas to Iranian citizens.

According to Immigration Department spokesperson Tikaram Dhakal, with this decision, Iranian citizens, except for government and diplomatic passport holders, must obtain visas from Nepalese embassies abroad. With this, the number of countries that do not grant 'on arrival' visas to Nepal has reached 13.

The countries that do not grant on arrival visas include Nigeria, Ghana, Zimbabwe, Switzerland, Cameroon, Somalia, Liberia, Ethiopia, Iraq, Palestine, Afghanistan and Syria.

There is also a provision that people with refugee status travel permits can enter Nepal only by obtaining a visa from a Nepalese embassy abroad.
