The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has stated that there is no immediate need to rescue Nepali workers working in the Gulf region from a security perspective. ‘According to our analysis so far, there is no need to immediately rescue them,’ Foreign Secretary Amrit Kumar Rai said at a press conference. ‘No one should worry. No one should be disturbed. Let this message be conveyed to their parents and sisters in Nepal and to Nepalis living in West Asia.’
He said that Western countries rescue their citizens only for special reasons, but there has been no rescue from the countries that send workers. ‘We have not rescued them from countries like Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka that send workers like us,’ he said. ‘If there is a need to rescue them, the government is capable. The Nepal government must do it at any cost. The government will show its capability when it needs to.’
