The Election Commission has decided to close down the units related to the election process after the results were finalized across the country and the proportional representation.
The various units established for the House of Representatives elections, 2082, held on Falgun 21, have been closed The Commission has issued a press release informing that the closure has been implemented. The Commission had established various special units and coordination centers to make the overall management, information flow, coordination and service delivery of the election effective.
The Commission had established the Election Information Communication and Coordination Center on Poush 11, 2082 for the effective communication of information, coordination between the concerned bodies and to provide necessary information to the voters and the general public.
Similarly, the Joint Election Operation Center was brought into operation on Magh 5, 2082 to address the queries related to the election of the voters and the general public and for the overall coordination of the election process between the call center and the security agencies.
The Commission's press release states that the closure will be effective from Magh 11, 2082 as per the decision of Falgun 26.
The Commission has stated that during the operation of the units, the Information Ethics Promotion Unit under the Election Information Communication and Coordination Center identified and analyzed 998 harmful information related to the election and sent it to the relevant regulatory body.
Similarly, the Electronic Voter Education Unit under the center has produced 704 materials, including videos and posters, related to the election process, voter education and election awareness, and published and broadcast them on the Commission's digital platform.
Similarly, the Press Office has been responsible for information dissemination on the Commission's work and activities, coordination with the media and press briefings, analysis of daily newspaper content, identification of content contrary to the code of conduct and recommendations for action, and preparation of voter education materials.
In addition, the Commission has stated that the call center has addressed 8,220 queries of the general voters, including voter roll, voter education, election code of conduct and other issues related to the election process.
